Tied for third place with an average 4.00 rank were Open Land & Parks, Green Healthy Living Options and Culture & The Arts. I was very happy to see these three categories so high in the poll. To me this is the heart of where we can improve our neighborhood beyond our existing focus. We all put a lot of energy or efforts into cleanliness and safety but we should consider our open spaces and parks and where we can make an impact in our neighborhood. Healthy living options are another huge potential for businesses to make an impact in our community by bringing their healthy, green solutions in our neighborhood. The Culture & The Arts have for millennium improved the quality of lives and I am glad to see this one so high as well. We might consider tapping into our existing network of culture and arts and expand it by discovering new talents and treasures within the community and from new outside sources as well.
I was also very encouraged for the giving spirit of our respondents to see that Helping Others was ranked next just ahead of Schools at 3.69 as next most important. There are so many ways to achieve this but see it on the higher end of the spectrum is a great sign and reflection of who we are as Sheffield Neighbors.
Inspiration & Art, Inclusive & Diversity, and Theater & The Arts rounds out the bottom of the rankings in terms of the least important topics to focus on of our neighborhood. Clearly we are not an artsy community as a primary focus but we do have each of these elements within our community and that makes us stronger too.
While the poll is a small sampling of 15 residents so far the information is one important step towards looking at which direction and what topics we as residents should be focusing on when asking the question "How might we improve our neighborhood?"
Thank you for those how have answered the poll so far and for those who want to get in on the survey you can go to this link and take the short poll yourself. http://bit.ly/sheffieldpoll
More to come as we work ahead on the mission of improving our neighborhood and making it safer, cleaner and more green & healthy with open park destinations that inspire the spirit and make our home a more engaging and great place to live and work.
